Anyone who reads my blog knows that I am a sucker for pretty packaging and, for some reason, pink packaging really speaks to me. When I saw this collection, I knew it was something I wanted to try.
I have never used many products from the Ulta Beauty line, so this was also a great opportunity for me to give their products a fair shot. I have used the occasional lip pencil and lipstick, but that is about it. I was really excited to try something new and excited to see if my sensitive skin would be able to take it. I decided to try everything except the false lashes. I don’t ever wear false lashes and have no desire to start anytime soon. The idea of gluing something to my overly sensitive eyelids and then trying to pull said something off and remove the glue is somewhat less than desirable to me. I did, however, order the eyeshadow palette, the cheek palette, and one of the lip duos.
The eye shadow palette is absolutely gorgeous. Not just the packaging, but the colors are so pretty! The shadows are easy to blend and have a beautiful color on the lid. I did find that some of the colors looked different on the lid than they did in the pan, but that is not all that uncommon. Also, they were a bit powdery and did have some fall out, but not more than I expect with a more inexpensive shadow.
The eyeshadow palette includes the following:
5 Matte Eyeshadows (0.07 oz each): Beautiful colors and very easy to apply and blend
- Rotor Man (nude matte)
- Boo Bears (matte brown)
- 100% (dusty rose with slight shimmer)
- Florida (matte mauve)
- OYYY (matte brown)
2 Shimmer Eyeshadows: Really nice shimmers, pretty colors, easy to apply
- Dude (brown with gold shimmer)
- Besties (pink with silver sparkle)
2 Metallic Eyeshadows: Beautiful, easy to apply with brush or finger, blends nicely
- Twinsies (metallic burgundy)
- Hey Guys (metallic rose gold)
3 Creamy Glitter Eyeshadows (0.07 oz each): Very sparkly, gorgeous, apply with the included applicator or finger. These can be applied on their own or over the other shadows.
- Manifest (champagne glitter)
- Bro (gold glitter)
- ChrisChris (olive with gold glitter)
1 Creamy Glitter Foam Tip Applicator – I don’t generally like foam applicators, so this isn’t my favorite. That is only personal preference though.
1 Glitter Liquid Liner in Daang (rose gold) (0.10 oz) – This liner is pretty, but the color is too light if you are using it with any of the darker shades or with the other shimmer colors.
NOW FOR THE BAD NEWS: I am allergic to these shadows. I have said before that my eyelids are extremely sensitive. I just can’t wear these shadows. The mattes are fine, but the problem comes in with the shimmer, metallic, and glitter shadows. I even tried using a thicker eyelid primer because I was afraid I was going to be allergic to them. My eyes started itching slightly right away and it got much worse as the day went on. Eventually they were burning and watering. It is not worth paying the $20 to get something that I can only use 5 colors out of the 11 that are in the palette.
If you don’t have sensitive eyelids like mine, I would definitely recommend this palette. It is beautiful inside and out as well as very affordable. You can purchase the palette here: Melisa Michelle Bling On the Glam Eyeshadow Palette
Now, lets talk about the cheek palette. When I got the box, the product in the cheek palette was pretty damaged. I contacted Ulta and they sent me a new one. They had great customer service. This is the first product that I have ever had arrive broken. It has 2 blushes and 2 highlighters. The highlighters are shimmers and the blushes are matte. It comes in the same beautiful pink packaging as the eye shadow. Because my eye lids are more sensitive than the rest of my skin, I wasn’t afraid to give this palette a shot even though the eye shadow didn’t work out for me. The blushes are so pretty!! I really like the colors and how they work with my skin tone. I have pretty light skin, but I definitely think these would work with darker skin as well. The highlighters are just ok. I love a blinding highlight! The pink shade of highlight did not work at all for me. You couldn’t even tell I had put any on. The champagne type color is beautiful, but I wouldn’t call it blinding. The palette costs $15 which is very reasonable. Overall I would recommend this palette. The colors complement the eye shadow palette very, very well. They look so beautiful when worn together. You can find the cheek palette here: Melisa Michelle Bling On the Glam Cheek Palette
The last thing I got was the lip duo. There are 2 colors to choose from and I chose “Spicy”. It comes with a lipliner and a matte lipstick. The color is beautiful and definitely goes well with the rest of the collection. The liner and lipstick are both very creamy and go on smoothly. My only problem with it is that I don’t really like matte lipsticks, but this still looked great with a gloss over top of it. The lip duo is $12.50 which is a pretty good price for a lip color and a liner together. You can get the lip duo here: Melisa Michelle Bling On the Glam lip duo
Overall I really did like this collection and I really wish I wasn’t allergic to the eye shadow. It is so beautiful and I would love to be able to play with it some more. I would definitely recommend it if you don’t have sensitive skin and if you are looking for an affordable collection.
