“Mom” Makeup: Perfecting the Five Minute Face

So, let’s face it, as much as we want to think that we do our best to look good every day, the truth is that sometimes we only have a few minutes to slap some makeup on before we go stop World War 3 from happening in the next room.

I have a “go to” look that I use on these days when I still want a makeup look, but I don’t have time to do every item and every step that I would like to. So, let’s take a minute to take a look at my “go to” mom face products!

The first thing I always use is foundation. I try to always use primer, but when I’m in a pinch sometimes it has to be skipped and I go straight for the foundation. When I want something quick, I go to my Bare Minerals complexion rescue foundation. It is less like a foundation and more like a BB cream. It is very easy to apply in just a couple of minutes. It gives me some coverage and gives me some spf for those days sitting outside watching the kids play in the pool or riding their bikes.

The second thing I grab is a bronzer. It puts some color back in my face after applying the foundation and I can use it as a contour in a pinch. I also use my bronzer as an eyeshadow. A quick swipe across the lid and you’ve got a great color on the eye without opening an eyeshadow palette. My favorite bronzer right now is this Smashbox bronzer and I always reach for it when I need a five minute “mom” face.

Next is my favorite thing: highlighter! You definitely could skip this step if you wish, but I never skip highlighter! It gives your face a beautiful glow and can even give you some sparkle depending on which one you choose. Lately, I am always reaching for my Becca highlighter in champagne pop.

Next, I grab some mascara. I never leave the house without some mascara on my lashes. Even if for some reason i don’t have time to do anything else, I WILL be wearing mascara. My current favorite mascara is this buxom mascara. It works great, dries quickly, doesn’t flake, and looks awesome.

Lastly, I grab a lip gloss. This is currently my favorite lip gloss. I love just a little extra color on my lips and it helps me look a little more alive and awake and ready to face the day.

I try to do my makeup every day, even if I am not going anywhere. I like to do my makeup for my husband. I like him to know that he is important enough for me to get dressed, do some makeup, and brush my hair. Sometimes my business with the kids doesn’t allow me to do a complete face like I usually do, but I try to still look good. And, before someone says it, yes my husband says I look good without makeup and when i am wearing my pajamas, but I also know that he appreciates me putting in a little extra effort just for him.

What about you? What are your products that make up your five minute face routine?!?

  2. I’m not a mom, but I still appreciate the tips! Working remotely, so mostly from home, it’s good to have a makeup routine that doesn’t take forever. To be honest I often skip the makeup completely. But with these tips, I feel like it’s gonna happen more often again. Thank you!

I use CC cream so I don’t need to use a concealer or a primer really. My favorite is IT.

I have definitely heard that if you have time for only one makeup item, make it mascara! I almost never leave the house without some kind of lip product on.

I moisturize always! Very important! Quick liner and mascara so I look awake and some concealer for my dark circles!

skincare is a separate routine for me, but I use a really great moisturizer at night so that I don’t have to moisturize in the morning.
